Everyone who is successful in life has an organised and structured life. Once I was with my teacher Habib Abdul Qadir Al-Saqqaf (May Allah be pleased with him) in a gathering.
After the gathering finished I went to greet him along with others who also went to greet him. He held my hand and asked, 'Where are you going? Where are you headed?'
I replied, 'I'm not really sure.' I didn't have a specific plan, I said to him, 'I don't know where I might go with friends.'
He then said to me, 'How is that so my son? How can you not know where you are going?' and he laughed.
He said, 'Look, my son, the blessing of time lies in organising it. Everyday when you wake up you should have a plan for the day: I will do this, this, and this. And if by evening you find that you succeeded in following the plan and staying organised, it means your day was blessed. Otherwise your day has no blessing.'
قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ
"Say: my prayer, my offering, my life and my death are for God."
